about

Auld Alliance

lyrics

His mother had nea a year been laid to rest.
Body still warm, the lairds had began to detest,
his fathers and king. Whom raises force in suppression,
to his son and lairds whom rise in rebellion.

June 11th, 1488 - our forces came to blows upon this date.
The Batlle of Sachieburn, his higher calling he shall earn,
for his fathers crown he now yearns.

He n'ere thought He'd see his fathers demise,
yet onlooking the battle He saw Him felled.
Thus inside Him anguish swelled and dwelled,
for in his heart lay a love that n'ere dies.

He became cold, wea and not his own.
ere longing to cease feeling alone.
t'was so he wed with a young Tudor maid,
yet his wantings and his griefs 'ad n'ere swayed.

Many years had passed to time before the remembrance,
of his fathers death and its painful significance.
His lose of his kin that day the memory n'ere wains.
He lost the very blood that flows through His veins.

He was called upon duty bound to war.
Oath bound to the English though He chose to ignore.
For an auld alliance had been sworn long before.
In his defiance his honor he would restore.

He rose an army and marched to Northumberland.
In life or death he chose now to stand,
to honor his kinsman oath he see's no alterior.
Like his father before his; he shall die a warrior.
