Nigh on 15 years,
James forged a grand divide,
Twixt himself and what others petitioned an intrusion.
Poised, flame bathed in hearth-light,
Gingerly coaxing his cleaving axe into readiness...
From this vantage, the river dispels her perfume into the air passing through open windows,
Enough to carry his soul,
Burdened by patriarch visions,
Away....
On the morrow,
James would bound from youth at a clutch for what destiny conspires to decant into truth.
The Lairds plot burbling toward an uprising,
Urged him lead them on...
Bannerman foreswore a march irretrievable in disconcern of consequence.
For death and fight,
be bedfellows of Country's might.
And at new moon ride...
Ride....ride...
Consternation welled at the core of young James,
Ought trust and fold to pocket the word of Laird...
Though betrayal hung swift in possibility of days yet unlived...
Would that every step forward,
Be swept into avoriced hands...
A Father's crown presides a daunting weight over circumstance....
Oh such divisive nomenclature;
Usurper.
Or Regent True to heart of kin....
The bed her fate doth dictate,
Is wild with stirring and golden hosts of ruin.

Auld Alliance

His mother had nea a year been laid to rest.
Body still warm, the lairds had began to detest,
his fathers and king. Whom raises force in suppression,
to his son and lairds whom rise in rebellion.
June 11th, 1488 - our forces came to blows upon this date.
The Batlle of Sachieburn, his higher calling he shall earn,
for his fathers crown he now yearns.
He n'ere thought He'd see his fathers demise,
yet onlooking the battle He saw Him felled.
Thus inside Him anguish swelled and dwelled,
for in his heart lay a love that n'ere dies.
He became cold, wea and not his own.
ere longing to cease feeling alone.
t'was so he wed with a young Tudor maid,
yet his wantings and his griefs 'ad n'ere swayed.
Many years had passed to time before the remembrance,
of his fathers death and its painful significance.
His lose of his kin that day the memory n'ere wains.
He lost the very blood that flows through His veins.
He was called upon duty bound to war.
Oath bound to the English though He chose to ignore.
For an auld alliance had been sworn long before.
In his defiance his honor he would restore.
He rose an army and marched to Northumberland.
In life or death he chose now to stand,
to honor his kinsman oath he see's no alterior.
Like his father before his; he shall die a warrior.

Night of the 8th of September the English came in grand array,
such a gloomy night filled with fear and wea,
for death and brutality of war are foreseen;
in the year fifteen hundred and fifteen.
On the ridge of Braxton Hill, his army lay,
Elegantly arrayed for the frey.
In front rode their noble king that day,
with heavy heart, but in it no dismay.

Flowers of the Forest

We'll hear nea mair lilting at our ewe milking.
Women and child are heartless and wea.
Sighing and moaning on ilka green loaning,
the flowers of the forest are just a wede away.
The flowers of the forest have been lost to time.
The flowers of the forest cling to the last of life.
The flowers of the forest are cauld in the clay
The flowers of the forest are all scythed away.
Falling from his horse, Felled by long pike,
arising in a state err dreamlike.
Picking up his sword valiant James our king.
Slashing right through everyone and everything.
His forces are diminished; flank giving way.
at Long last his grief began to fade away.
Will I ere grasp a blade again?
Or is thy fate preordain?
Rally to the your king your lord.
If no one shall survive - our bravery record.
Lay down our lives or pick up thy sword.
Rally to the your king!
Nea victory is not what he had found,
though what he saw was profound.
The very thought of his death braught fury,
an' makes him rush to meet their infantry.
Sword high above his head as he rages,
a sight n'ere lost to the ages.
As further yet he pushes himself forward,
he see's the faces of their men fill with horror,
for he shall n'ere give quarter!
Encircled alone without his ward,
Standing triumphant; refused to drop his sword.
Pikes came downward closing in around,
death be imminent; he will be renown -
Long into the years infinite err' unbound.
Grief and woe, lost our lads at the border.
English for ance by guile won the day.
Noblemen of Scottland - fought err midst the fore.
Holding their blades cauld in the clay.
